Skiing – one of the most popular winter leisure sports. Perfect powder snow, sun, mountains, fresh air and partying at après ski in the evening. Mass tourism has spread especially in the Alps and characterizes the landscape there. But paradise is ailing. Due to climate change and the resulting lack of snow, massive use of technology is necessary to produce a perfect winter landscape regardless of natural weather conditions. Peak observes the construction and production processes related to ski tourism for over a year and reveals what otherwise remains hidden from winter tourists under the thick blanket of artificial snow. It shows the modification of the landscape and the lasting traces left by these interventions. PEAK questions the relationship between technology and nature. How artificial can or should a landscape be? Or: How artificial does it have to be to fulfill our desire for vacation fun and recreation? At the same time, the protagonists tell the audience how difficult survival in the Alps has become when you can no longer rely on the weather.
