In 1956, the then Frankfurt Zoo Director Prof. Bernhard Grzimek and his son Michael filmed the first of his two famous animal documentaries about the African continent. The impressive images of the lives of African animals and the insight into the civilization of the pygmies have lost none of their fascination to this day.
