John Lennon and New York City - this is the story of a great love and a great tragedy. For the city in which Lennon finally found the freedom and privacy he sought with his wife Yoko Ono also brought him death in 1980 in the form of the assassin Mark David Chapman. Documentary filmmaker Michael Epstein depicts the interrelationship between a unique city and one of the most influential artists and political activists of the 20th century. "We couldn't have existed anywhere else like this," says Yoko Ono. For his Lennon portrait, Epstein was able to get her to give one of the most candid interviews she's ever given about her husband. Many other companions from the last ten years of Lennon's life have their say, including Elton John. Never before published studio recordings, concert recordings and outtakes also make "LennoNYC" a musical experience.
