The Fisherman and His Wife

Classics/Book adaptation, Germany 1967

A big flounder gets caught in the net of a poor fisherman. Since it can talk, the fisherman releases it. As a reward, the fish grants him some of his wishes – or rather those of his wife... This fairy tale film adaptation is an elaborately restored black-and-white rarity from the Augsburg Puppet Theater. It was restored, along with other television classics from the famous puppet theater, by the RAI in Bolzano, South Tyrol. Even though the original recordings were only of mediocre quality, the content will not only make the heart of every lover of the Augsburg Puppet Theater beat faster.
